Synopsis

The story revolves around a Fire Mage, Natsu Dragneel and his friend, a cat name Happy as they face challenges in their lives as mages, such as taking jobs and fighting Dark Guilds. They befriend Lucy, a Celestial Mage, and invites her to join the Fairy Tail Guild. Closely related are Gray, Natsu’s greatest rival, and Erza, the strongest female mage in Fairy Tail, Natsu's friends and fellow Guildmates.

Kimi ni Todoke 06: Friends

Episode Guide

Early in this episode, it showed that Shino was the one that gave Sawako her nickname, “Sadako”. Apparently, she was a loner ever since she was little. Then, it continues where it left off last episode.

There was commotion out the girl’s bathroom. Whisperings of the fight inside were spread from ear to ear. Kazehaya arrived with Ryu and was rather unhappy with what he heard. Yano and Yoshida arrived just when Kazehaya was defending Sawako. When they were informed what was going on, Yano and Yoshida charged ahead to the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom, the bullies accused Sawako for starting the rumors and of course, she was confused. They accused her is using Yano and Yoshida to get closer to Kazehaya. This time, instead of walking away or ignoring the rumors, Sawako stood up for the truth. While she was trying to explain her relationship with Yano and Yoshida, she admitted that she likes them.

Unknown to her, Yano and Yoshida overheard this. Before the bully could go any further, Yano and Yoshida came to the rescue and defended her. After Yoshida “threatened” them, the bullies set to leave but Sawako insisted the lead bully to take back the horrible words she said about her friends.

Outside, Kazehaya continued defending Sawako. Hirano and Endo also revealed how Sawako defended Yano and Yoshida. Upon hearing this, the atmosphere suddenly changed. The students began to praise Sawako for her effort in helping them with their studies.

The scene switched back to inside the bathroom where Sawako poured out her feelings to Yano and Yoshida and asked to be their friends. Tears began to pour. After exchanging of heartfelt words, Sawako officially made her first friends.

Out of nowhere, Pin-sensei appeared, thinking that there was a major fight only to be disappointed. Later on, he dismissed the crowd lingered around the bathroom. But Kazehaya waited for Sawako and she thanked him for being such an encouragement.

The exam results were announced. Sawako’s results dropped but average results improved and her classmates were grateful for her. Instantly, whisperings about her Zashiki Warashi began to spread.

Yoshida invited Sawako to join them for ramen and Yano insisted her to tell her ghost story. This is when Kazehaya realized that now that Sawako has friends, he wouldn’t have much one-on-one time with her.

While in their way out of school, they met Shino and she asked Yano and Yoshida to take care Sawako. Then, Yano and Yoshida decided to tease Sawako by asking her to reveal her true feelings about them to them.

Somewhere else, the earlier bullies were discussing about how mad Kazehaya was about the incident. Yuuka (the lead bully) apparently had strong feelings for Kazehaya too. Eavesdropping on their conversation is the blonde…

Writer’s Thoughts

This episode seems to get by surprisingly fast. Before I know it, 20 minutes had passed by. Is this a good sign or bad sign? I don't even know myself. I had high hopes for this episode but it didn't turn out the way I hope.

There're lotsa tears in this episode. Yoshida crying. Sawako crying. The two cry babies of the series. They poured out their hearts like there's no tomorrow. There's something that I don't get it. Do we have to like confirm that someone's our friend by saying “You're my friend” or “I want us to be friends”? Don't things like this happen naturally? It's not that I'm annoyed or anything. I just find it weird. For what's worth, they reconciled. I'm happy. They're happy. Kazehaya isn't happy. Haha...

The students of Kitahoro High are such busybodies. The crowd outside the girl's washroom. They gave me the impression that they're waiting for an outcome of some life-and-death situation. But it's good to see that Hisano and Endo helped to prove Sawako's innocence.

I'm beginning to doubt who's behind the rumors. Is it the blonde or not? Will I ever know? The blonde has finally spoken. I mean like this time around, she said more than two words. She said like “hmm”, “ermm” before but not like a proper sentence so I can't actually hear her voice. Guess who's the Japanese voice actor?

In an inner-self conversation, Sawako said that Yano and Yoshida are her first friends. Hey, what about Shino? Isn't she your friend, Sawako? Ah. The complicated life of high school. That was so long ago...

Kimi Ni Todoke 05: Determination

Sawako was worrying about her situation with Kazehaya, Yano and Yoshida over her meal. She was confused and worried over how to react when she sees them at school

On the first day of their exam, Sawako found Yano sitting her usual place. Their seating was arranged according to their names and not following their usual seating. But instead of greeting Yano, Sawako chose to ignore her. When Yoshida arrived, Yano discussed what happened and both of them felt that there was something not right with Sawako.

During the exam, Sawako thought about how happy she was with Kazehaya, Yano and Yoshida. She was glad that she finally made friends but then because she cared, she had to let them ago, to protect them. And she cried for she didn’t know how to be alone anymore.

After school, Kazehaya waited for Sawako and seek explanation for her recent behavior. When pressed, Sawako suddenly broke down in tears, shocking Kazehaya. Once Kazehaya learned about her reason, he forbade Sawako to ever distant herself again and he stood firm on his decision to befriend her. Sawako also talked about Yano and Yoshida and how she truly felt about them. She decided to talk things through with Yano and Yoshida.

At the stairway, Yano met Pin-sensei and she blamed him for what had happened between Sawako and herself. Despite not knowing the actual reason, Pin-sensei surprisingly gave her some advice, which she pondered on. In the library, as Yano was looking for study books, she stumbled upon ghost stories that she saw Sawako read. She realized that she missed her.

Also missing Sawako is Yoshida. She was somewhat comforted by Ryu when she was fussing over her situation with Sawako. At the time, Ryu was jogging as instructed in Pin’s practice menu. When she looked at the notes Sawako prepared for her, she felt even more confused and hurted.

Later that night, Yano invited Yoshida to hang out. When they talked about feelings about Sawako, they realized that they loved her and had already considered as their friend. Unbeknownst to them, Sawako was also thinking about them.

The next morning, Sawako was nervous about how is she going to talk to Yano and Yoshida. She practiced what she wanted to say in the toilet. While she was practicing, she overheard some girls gossiping about her again but this time, she stood up for herself and her friends. However, these girls went rough on her and for the first time, she heard Yano and Yoshida being labeled as “slut” and “criminal”…Now, how will she react?

Writer’s Thoughts

There’s this scene where Kazehaya bought drinks for Sawako. I’m sure Sawako’s just being Sawako; she paid him back the money. Haha..But I like what she did. Although I don’t think she did out of the same reasoning as I would. I’m not sure about how other culture works but from what I’ve learned from my own circle of friends is better not to indebt to people who you do not consider as friend. Yeah, so probably Sawako did what she did out of politeness. But still, it’s good to see.

Yoshida was so cute when she was talking to Ryu. The scenes make me laughed even though she's crying and angry all at the same time. I like that she's able to openly talk about what she thinks. So far, she's the only person I see talking about her feelings to just about anybody. I'm not sure about Yano though. I mean, we only get to see more of Yoshida's raw-nature-in-action and nobody else's.

From I see in this episode, it's pretty clear to me that Sawako has already gotten herself some loyal friends. The only thing is she doesn't know yet. Haha...

After the last few minutes of this episode, I began to wonder why people hate Sawako so much when she's just an innocent girl. They ignore her. Emotionally torture her. Bully her. When she did nothing to provoke anyone. Who're those girls anyway?

The episode began with Sawako’s parents asking about school, which she replied that she was happy. Genuinely. She was happy that she was making new friends and life at school was gradually changing for the better.

However, at school the rumors started to spread. Yano and Yoshida were starting to worry. In a flashback, it showed that they laughed it off when they were told that the source of rumor was Sawako (see last episode).

But in order to be sure, they decided to ask Sawako personally. Of course, they did it in their mischievous way and concluded that Sawako was innocent. Also, Sawako handmade notes for Yoshida for their upcoming test and this further convinced them that she was innocent.

In the faculty room, Pin-sensei was telling Kazehaya about tiny old men he saw when he was drunk. He was worried that it was a curse from Sawako (see last episode). However, Kazehaya stood up for Sawako and this prompted Pin-sensei to ask Kazehaya his relationship with Sawako. Kazehaya was blushing when he heard Pin-sensei’s question, which caused Pin-sensei to ponder on Kazehaya’s weird taste on girls.

It was lunch time. Yano, Yoshida and Sawako spent it together and that made Sawako very happy. She always had lunches on her own.

After that, Shino, Sawako’s friend, approached her to understand about the rumors but there were misunderstandings between both of them because they were referring to different rumors. When asked if Yano and Yoshida were her friends, Sawako denied instantly because she felt that to call a person a friend requires deep connection but Yano and Yoshida were only be able to catch her denial but not her explanation. They were interrupted by Pin-sensei who wanted Yoshida to pass a training menu to Ryu. In order to clear their confusion, Yoshida asked Sawako if she likes them. But before she could finish her sentence, Yoshida cut her off thinking that Sawako didn’t like them.

In the toilet, she overheard about other students gossiping about them. The students were talking how Yano, Yoshida and Kazehaya were being used by her and their reputation had greatly suffered because her. Then and there, she decided it would be better not to hang around them to avoid causing them troubles.

The next morning, Yano and Yoshida met halfway when they were on their way to school. Apparently, they had been crying all night long as they grieve for what had happened between them and Sawako.

Sawako went on a mission to see who the one who spread the rumors was but failed miserably. She was sad that she became a burden for her new friends. Kazehaya also confronted Sawako why is she avoiding him, to which Sawako replied she could never hate him.

The episode ended with all four of them feeling hurt, confused and sad.

Writer’s Thoughts
Yano lips always pouts, even in the comical form. There, I said it. Not that I mind but it looks weirdly funny when the chibi-Yano appears.

As time goes by, I find myself like Yano and Yoshida even more. I like their characters. They are always smiling, carefree, funny and friendly. Very approachable. They even laughed at each other’s puffy eyes even though they were hurt deeply inside. They are rational and believe in their friend. I also like that they always seek to solve problems by tackling the cause instead of making assumptions. I think they have shown respectable characters thus far.

On the other hand, Sawako is just damn naïve. She believes everything she hears. Unlike Yano and Yoshida, she never bothered to take the initiative to solve an issue from the root. Gosh, look at how much trouble she had caused! I can’t blame her though. She’s new to this I-have-friends situation. I think she is still learning to relate to others.

Pin-sensei can be very comedic and yet irritating at the same time. Why does he have to drag Yano and Yoshida to the faculty room just to pass a secret training menu to Ryu? If only he came just one tiny bit later or better, if only he had just passed the training menu to Ryu directly.

I seriously thought the rumors will be solved in this episode but I guess that’s not the case. I’ll have to see what happens in the next episode. I’m still putting my money on the blonde. Oh, I just realized that she hadn’t make an appearance in this episode. Why? Is she afraid she’s incapable to clear up the mess she caused? IF she’s the one that caused it.

The episode begins with exchanging of “Good Mornings”. Sawako attempted to stop herself from crying when she greeted Yano and Yoshida. The attempt failed as she cringed or smiled scarily. About this time, Kazehaya and Ryu arrived. Apparently, Ryu forgotten Sawako’s name. Haha.

Now, Kazehaya has yet to name the puppy and requested Sawako’s help. Before Sawako could name it, Pin-sensei interrupted them by shouting “Pedro Martinez”. Sawako liked the idea and nicknamed the puppy Maru-chan. Out of the blue, Pin-sensei stared into Sawako’s eyes as if accepting the challenge of debunking the rumors surrounding her. Kazehaya thought of it as a great idea and proceeded to repeat what Pin-sensei had done. However, he ended up blushing terribly probably due to his feelings for her.

In a conversation with Sawako and Yano, Yoshida revealed that Kazehaya had always liked to befriend those who do not fit in. She also mentioned that he was popular among the girls in his middle school. In order to avoid Kazehaya disliking them, the girls formed a “Kazehaya Belongs to Everyone” agreement. In fact, most girls came to the school because of Kazehaya and this impressed Sawako.

Pin-sensei wanted volunteers to do the attendance log. Sawako quickly volunteered while others complained. Seeing her doing so, Kazehaya also volunteered. This set out a ripple effect as everyone began to volunteer as well. After school, Sawako stayed back to work on the attendance log while Kazehaya was stuck in the faculty room with Pin-sensei as ordered. When Pin-sensei rushed to the toilet, Kazehaya sneaked out to help Sawako.

In the classroom, they shared a moment of intimacy before Pin-sensei intercom for Kazehaya. Not long after he left, Hirano and Endou came to help Sawako with encouragement from Kazehaya. They told Sawako how they feel about her. Sawako was moved.

At the staircase after both have finished their respective tasks, Kazehaya and Sawako had a little conversation, which overheard by a blonde girl hiding nearby. Yano and Yoshida also noticed that Sawako’s hard work was finally paid off and told her about it.

The next morning, Kazehaya passed a paper note to Sawako. She misunderstood and thought that Kazehaya wanted her to pass along the note. She passed it to Ryu and Kazehaya quickly retrieved back the paper, causing a scene. Then, he wrote her name on the paper, signaling it was meant for her. He asked to meet her by the riverbank and he will bring the puppy.

Sawako was really happy about meeting that she dropped the papers. The blonde from earlier helped to pick up the papers.

By the riverbank, Maru-chan was happily running towards Sawako..paper bag with dog food – bone. Kazehaya and Sawako talked about what she likes to do during her free time. She revealed that she loved to daydream about teaching. Kazehaya admired her for that and wanted Maru-chan to be their secret.

In the study hall the next day, Kazehaya asked her to tutor him. Yoshida and Yano tried to interrupt but were also drawn into Sawako’s teaching. Their classmates were also amazed and began to ask her for help. When she found out they were grateful for her help, Sawako, to everyone’s surprise, smiled genuinely for the first time.

The episode ended with several girls talking bad about Yano and Yoshida. When Yoshida asked who were behind the rumors, one of the girls told her it was Sawako…

Writer’s Thoughts
First off, when the puppy ran happily towards Sawako, I thought that it really likes her. Haha. I should have known better. It’s good to see that Sawako is making new friends here. Her number of friends seems to double every episode.

Now, who is the blonde? She seems to appear very often now huh? Actually, she made a brief appearance in the last episode. Like one second. I thought she’s just one of those “extra”. But I think she’s more than that. Otherwise, why bother to show her eavesdropping on Kazehaya and Sawako’s conversation by the stairway? Since I don’t know her name yet so I wouldn’t put her in my character introduction list yet. I’m crossing my fingers here and bet that she’s the girl behind Yano and Yoshida’s nasty rumors. It’s quite obvious though. A mysterious girl and mysterious rumors.

I like how Yoshida came off strong when confronting the bunch of girls. See, that’s how a girl/guy should behave when they’re the object of nasty rumors. Confront and get to the bottom of it. Haha. I’m kinda worried how Yano and Yoshida would think of Sawako. Will Yoshida confront Sawako like she did her with that poor little girl? How will Sawako handle it? Sawako is damn naïve okay. She might just break down and cry. Haha.

Oh..Yoshida said something about Kazehaya likes to befriend those who don’t fit in. What does this mean? From how I see he reacted to Sawako’s smile, man, I gotta say this guy likes her. And vice versa.

Kimi Ni Todoke 02: Seating Change

On a rainy day, Sawako saw a stray puppy on her way to school. Even though the puppy was aggressive towards her, she shielded it from the rain with her umbrella. Because of that, she arrived at school soaked and such a scene caused quite a stir among her schoolmates.

She was determined to interact more with people. As Kazehaya arrived, also soaked, she admired how her classmates naturally gathered around him. At the same time, Kazehaya noticed her and greeted her. This made her happy because Kazehaya still treated her normally despite the commotion she caused before the summer vacation (see last episode). Seeing Sawako wet, Kazehaya asked Yoshida for a change of cloth for her. Sawako was grateful for both the change of cloth and the towel Kazehaya gave her.

As Sawako changed into the clean sweater, a classmate teased Kazehaya unusual kindness towards Sawako that caused him to flash in embarrassment. In a flashback, it was revealed that Sawako respected him for his liveliness but not attracted to him in a way he thought she was.

Sawako bought drinks for Kazehaya, Yoshida and Yano as a token of gratitude. She left the drinks on each of their table. Upon seeing his packet of drink, Kazehaya instinctively asked Sawako if it was from her. During this conversation, they both realized that the reason why they were both soaked was the stray puppy.

After school, they walked to the riverbank to check if the puppy is still there. The puppy was happy to see Kazehaya but barked ferociously at Sawako. Sawako didn’t mind because she was used to animal being afraid of her. Kazehaya adopted the puppy. As they were playing with the puppy, Sawako told Kazehaya that she wants to become friends with others and he encouraged her to open up to others.

The next day, Sawako baked cookies for Kazehaya, Yoshida and Yano to show her gratitude to their kindness. Briefly after she left her seat, a classmate wanted to take her seat but was warned about the curse of doing so. When she heard this, Sawako stepped up to clear the misunderstanding but to no avail. Unknown to Sawako, Yano witnessed the whole incident.

The class was asked to assign seating. Students were asked to draw numbers for their new seats. Sawako was happy and took this as an opportunity to make new friends. So when she overheard her classmate complained about having a front row seat, she volunteered to exchange seat number, which was somewhat impolitely refused. Now, everyone became nervous when they know her seat number because they believed that sitting close to her will bring bad luck. Upon seeing his classmates’ behavior, Kazehaya traded his seat number to sit next to Sawako, followed by Yano, Yoshida and Ryu. This time, Sawako finally had the courage to give them cookies which they gladly accepted. Seeing how her they enjoy it, she shed a few happy tears.

Writer’s Thoughts
There are a few things that came to mind in this episode. First, even dogs can be bias. Second, why are two classmates having different subjects at the same period? I think the answer to my second thoughts can only be answered by students from Japanese high schools. =)

From what I see, there are obvious hints on Kazehaya’s feelings for Sawako in this episode. Hints. So, I’m not so sure if he really likes her or is he just being friendly. There are a lot of blushing scenes for Kazehaya and Sawako. I’m not surprised if Sawako blushes a lot. I mean, c’mon, the girl is not learning to communicate with people normally. She’s shy. But Kazehaya? I think even if he likes her, Sawako might be too slow to get it. She is awfully naïve. I think she sees things in a pair of rose-colored glasses. She wants to live up to other’s expectations. She sees the good side of people. She is kind towards those who dislike her.

I like Yoshida. I like her character and the way she carries herself. I think she’s funny, friendly, helpful and sensitive. Gosh, she has the tendency to cry whenever she feels touched. Oh, and the viewers get to see Ryu in action in this episode. I find that in most anime I watched, there is always this silent, cool guy. Ryu fits in the role just great. =)

Kimi Ni Todoke 01: Prologue

Sawako was trying to get along with her school mates. She had always been treated as an object of fear and nicknamed as Sadako from The Ring. Her days seemed to brighten up when she met Kazehaya. He happened to be the first one to say “Thank You” to her when she usually gets “I’m Sorry” from her school mates. For this, she aspired to be like him.

Kazehaya was the coordinator for the upcoming event, Test of Courage. As he said it’s an open invitation for their classmates, Sawako considered joining. Shortly after this, their teacher asked for volunteers for summer classes. When seeing that her classmates were reluctant, Sawako volunteered. However, Kazehaya interjected stating she was always the one working. When their teacher asked Kazehaya to volunteer, Sawako insisted that she wanted to work for the fear of boredom during the summer holidays.

Sawako’s complimenting Kazehaya when he overheard her conversation with her only friend, Shino. They shared a moment of embarrassment, however was resolved when she explained her reasons and subsequently Kazehaya personally invited her to the Test of Courage event.

In the classroom, Yano and Yoshida were discussing about how Sawako should be the ghost in the Test of Courage. At this moment, Sawako walked in and volunteered to be the ghost. On seeing ghost, she also apologized for not being able to live up to the expectation, which caused mix response from Yano and Yoshida.

At the night of the Test of Courage, Sawako did her job well as a ghost. While doing her job, Kazehaya walked into the forest only to be surprised by her. They talked about how Sawako recently had been able to open up to others.

The next day, Kazehaya received penalty for finishing the test and his punishment was to date Sawako for a week. Instead of agreeing, Kazehaya defended Sawako and refused to date her. Sawako was moved by his actions and determined to stand up for herself. However, it was mistaken as a confession to her classmates.

Writer’s Thoughts
I enjoyed the first episode though there isn’t really anything going on. I guess the episode title says it all. Prologue. It is meant to show the viewers the setting for the coming episodes of this series. I’m fine with that. First episode. Empty. But it gave me an overall picture of what kind of person Sawako and Kazehaya are.

In my perspective, Sawako is lonely, naïve and clueless. She seems to have the tendency to take what other people says seriously. C’mon, she apologized for not being able to see ghosts! I don’t think any sane person would apologize for that. But I like her when she does all those scary faces. It’s hilarious. No wonder her schoolmates are afraid of her. As for Kazehaya, he seems to be a decent guy. Very friendly and like they say, lively. The cool guy, circled with a group of people all the time. It’s cool that he treats everyone equally. Unlike some of the cool guys we know will well, try to act so almighty that they are selective when it comes to friends. Kazehaya isn’t like that. He’s warm and it makes you just want to be his friend.

Somehow I find it funny why the students will go into extend of creating rumors that Sawako has the power to curse and so on. It’s illogical. Haha. Rumors can hurt a great deal of reputation. But I find it even funnier that Sawako wants to live up to all those expectations.

I believe that this episode gave me enough reason to want to continue watching the next episode. I’m already beginning to ask questions. How will Sawako be now that Kazehaya is in the picture? Will she make more friends? Will her schoolmates hate her more that now she’s sort of hanging out with Kazehaya? Questions. Questions. Questions. Answers can only be revealed as the series progress…

Synopsis
This shojo anime tells the story of a girl, Sawako. She has problems expressing herself to others, often misleading her schoolmates to think that she’s actually unfriendly. But little did they know that she has been trying hard everyday to make the effort to befriend them. At the same time, she meets Kazehaya, a total opposite of her in terms of personality. Seeing him get along well with all a lot of people, she decides she wants to be like him.

Haruhi was looking for a quiet place to study when she stumbled upon the Ouran High School Host Club. Due to her androgynous appearance, she was initially mistaken as a boy by the club members with the exception of Kyouya, who seemed to already know her real gender from the start.

The members who formed the club are of rich and powerful descendants so they expressed interest in commoners such as Haruhi, especially Tamaki. Because of commoner status, all the members already knew her by name, a fact that surprised her. As Tamaki persisted on questioning her, Haruhi accidentally broke an expensive vase. Since she could not afford to pay, she was ordered to become the host club’s servant.

On her first task, she bought a bottle of instant coffee, Hescafé (looks like a rip off of Nescafé!). Apparently, rich kids do not drink instant coffee but freshly grinded coffee beans. Instant coffee, to them, is a commoner food. So, much to the surprise of all the members and their customers, Tamaki ordered Haruhi to make cups of coffee for their customers. While everyone enjoyed their first taste of instant coffee, Tamaki’s extra attention to Haruhi had sparked jealousy in one of his frequent clients.

Soon after Hunny and Mouri arrived, Kyouya explained to Haruhi each of the host club’s members. At the same time, Hunny-senpai offered to lend her his soft toy bunny. Her reaction prompted him to believe that she is a girl.

When he proceeded to educate her ethics of the host club, Haruhi searched to find the correct word to describe Tamaki. The word she found was “annoying”. However, the twins felt that Tamaki’s effort was a waste of time, causing one of them to take off Haruhi’s glasses in attempt to stress her ugliness. The twins were instead greeted by an adorable face of Haruhi, impressing all of the club members.

Tamaki then quickly instructed each of the members a task to transform Haruhi into a host. All members except Hunny, whom he instructed to eat more cakes!

At the dressing room, the twins were quick to realize that Haruhi is actually a girl when she kicked them out of the room. It was also here that Tamaki appointed Haruhi to become a host, with the condition of serving 100 clients for her to be fully pay her debt.

Almost immediately, Haruhi experienced her first taste as a host by entertaining three clients. While she was entertaining her clients, Tamaki and other members were nearby, watching closely. Tamaki always thought of himself as a father figure of the club, feeling protective of the members, especially Haruhi. Around this time, Takashi had also realized that Haruhi is a girl.

Earlier in the episode, it was shown that there was a girl who was jealous over Tamaki’s affection for Haruhi. Later, she tried to frame Haruhi for misconduct but all to no avail because by now, all the members believed Haruhi’s true personality. As a result of causing troubles for the host club, Tamaki punished Haruhi by increasing the total number client to serve from 100 to 1000.

Soaked in water from the earlier commotion, Haruhi was ordered to change her clothes. As she was changing, Tamaki walked into the room to give her towel. He was the last person to realize that Haruhi is a girl...

Why do we have host club? It’s simply because there is a bunch of overly free rich boys who entertains a bunch of equally overly free rich girls. =)

Writer's Thoughts
This episode serves as an introductory to those who are new to Ouran High School Host Club. An episode one cannot afford to miss since it provides more information about the school, club and the characters. Even so, there are still a lot of funny moments here. One of the most funny moments in this episode is perhaps the time when Haruhi was trying to find words to describe Tamaki. I find it hilarious.

Personally, I am satisfied with the first episode given the amount of laughters I had. It included just the right amount of cuteness for my taste and gave me a whole understanding of the club. The girls are just suckers for the guys. You can see them scream with pleasure whenever one of the guys said something sweet or do something silly in front of them. If you can picture how fans react in some rock star concerts, you're right on track. =)

When I saw Hunny-senpai at first, I was thinking why in the world they want a little boy as host. Haha. So I quite shock to learn that he was actually one of the two oldest member in the club. I was thinking it could've been easily either Tamaki or Kyouya but not Hunny-senpai! I have to call him Hunny-senpai here because I just couldn't shake off that he's actually quite old. Haha. And Hunny sound so girlish! I would never name any boy a boy Hunny, however cute he may be!

However, there is one thing I find annoying. The roses. Everytime Tamaki explained something or when it's about the host club, the roses will dance around the screen. It's just too much. Warning: There are going to be a lot more roses as the series continue. Oddly, I'm fine with the little flowers dancing around Hunny-senpai. I think the flowers are meant to signifies his cuteness?

Basically, to cut the long story short, the first episode did a good job to give viewers an all round understanding of what Ouran High School Host Club is and how Haruhi ended up as a host.

Interesting Fact
In Japanese, Tamaki and Death Note's Yagami Light are voiced by the same voice actor.

Ouran High School Host Club is an anime revolving around the boys of a host club in the high school. The host club consists of members who are rich, smart and talented. They serve to entertain their customers, which in this case are the girls from their school.
